CHAPPIE

I’m not quite sure to categorize this movie. Not sure whether this is a child or adult movie. The story itself is so light, funny, and more like a family movie, but yet still some scene show violence and also the use of rude words. Anyway, maybe now days it’s hard to create movie without those things, I don’t know.

Well, this movie is about the era where police is not only run by human but by robot. This robot is very effective and make neighborhood very safe and ordered. This robot don’t think, but they just do what they’re programmed. Until one day, this robot programmer Dion, decided to put conscious to a robot. Of course this project is actually not allowed by the department, because conscious is something they don’t want for this kind of robot.
This is a security robot, the just need them to follow orders that’s all. Dion finally got a chance when one of the robot was damaged and almost hard to be fixed. So Dion drag it from the warehouse and tried to bring it home to test it, when he got hijacked by couple robber who were in deep debt. Those criminals thought by threatening Dion, they will get access to control Police robots, since Dion is the engineer for those robots.

They found these pieces of the robot at the back of Dion car, and force him to rebuild the robot to help him finding money. But Dion insist to plug his program into this robot, so instead of getting police robot, they get a robot with conscious. This robot is like a human child and need to be thought about everything, and thought that it is a human. And the funny and emotional things started here, while they tried to teach this robot to be cruel or gentle ‘kid’.

Besides, there’s also a competition between Dion with his Police robot with another engineer who developing destroyer robot, and looking for chance to take over Dion’s.
