The story is quite more alike trying to be "American Beauty" but somehow, the character, and the plot itself is far below it.
This movie is about Kat, who is living in un ideal family, the father works every time while the mother being bored at home, crying for her youth. And this young Kat, became a wild girl who exploring herself to find identity as teenager.
Met her neighbor and became lover, when first time she did it, and finally to a macho policeman, just for pleasure.
The story became a little bit serious when her mother vanished in the air, gone but nobody knows where. So, when Kat was going home in her college vacation, her mother disappearance has become in her mind. She contacted her policeman boyfriend tried to ask the progress about the case with no answer.
But this is not a detective movie, so the result is obviously quiet clear, that her father did that after she found out something very embarrassment to him.
The story is aiming far, but the result is not that far, the character is not strong enough to compete with "American Beauty".
